PREVENTATIVE DENTISTRY

PREVENTATIVE DENTAL OPTIONS

Sustaining healthy teeth and gums is a lifelong endeavor, but with the right dental team to guide you, you can maintain that beautiful smile. Being proactive with regular dental visits is the best preventative measure you can take to keep your mouth healthy. Our dentist and hygienists will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums to identify any potential areas of concern, and then work with you to stop them before they become problems.

PREVENTATIVE DENTISTRY SERVICES

Thorough Dental Cleaning and Exams

Our dentist and hygienists will evaluate the overall health of your gums and teeth, as well as clean your teeth of plaque and other deposits. Tooth or gum concerns — such as signs of tooth decay or gum disease — are often found during routine exams. Our team may also review your dietary and lifestyle choices as they relate to the health of your teeth and gums.

Dental X-Rays Tell Us the Story

Our dentist or dental assistants may take a set of X-rays to check for cavities and the overall health of your mouth. X-rays aren’t always needed, but our dentist may include this in an annual checkup or if it’s been a while since your last visit. X-rays can help identify underlying causes of tooth pain, tooth decay, and jaw problems, allowing us to address the concerns as soon as possible.

Digital X-Rays Allow Us to Go Beyond the Basics with Modern Technology

Modern technology allows us to see what’s happening in your mouth clearer than ever. We use digital radiography for all our patients as necessary, with higher definition images and significantly less risk for radiation exposure than with traditional methods. Digital X-rays enable us to better communicate with you and each other regarding any dental work you may need. We can use the modern technology to thoroughly explain the procedure and show you why it’s required.

Intraoral Cameras Provide a Complete View

For those hard-to-reach places, Fisher Pointe Dental is equipped with LED intraoral camera technology. With this technology, we can grasp the full scope of your mouth’s health, and give you greater peace of mind. Many insurance providers also require some level of proof for claims, and an intraoral camera is just one more tool for dentists to provide a thorough explanation of a needed procedure.

Sealants and Fluoride for Children

With a goal of healthy mouths for a lifetime, our preventative dentistry services can instill positive oral hygiene habits in children early. We can provide you with ways to encourage your children to thoroughly care for their teeth and gums, as well as implement strategies to protect their little teeth. Sealants, a liquid solution that is “painted” onto teeth, can form a protective barrier to safeguard against early tooth decay and cavities. Fluoride treatments also reinforce the strength of children’s natural tooth enamel and fight tooth decay.

PREVENTATIVE DENTAL MAINTENANCE AND ORAL HYGIENE TIPS

  • Brush your teeth twice a day with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste.
  • Replace your toothbrush every three or four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won’t do a good job of cleaning your teeth.
  • Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner.
  • Eat a balanced diet and limit snacks between meals.
  • Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exam
